“I just don’t know where to start.” – This is pretty much the phrase we hear most often when speaking with business professionals. With all of the options available today to market your company, it’s no wonder folks are frustrated. Every time you think you have figured out what you need to do, some new site or app or tool hits the street. How to use these new opportunities, or whether you should, is not always obvious. Your website should be the hub of your online presence. All of your other “properties” should point back to your site and drive traffic to it.
This being said, it doesn’t due your business justice if your visitors are confused when they get to your site. This is why, the very first place you should start is to determine the main PURPOSE of your website. By PURPOSE, we mean specifically, what is it you want your visitors to DO when they get to your site?
Do you want them to call you, email you, download a report, join an email list…? If you don’t make it very clear for them, you will lose them. You have approximately 10 seconds to capture a visitor’s attention. People want you to point them in the right direction, they won’t hunt for your number. Make sure your PURPOSE jumps off the “page” with a specific Call to Action and you will be surprised at the results.
